Self-Management for a Successful Life - Part 2! In the first part of this blog, I shared how time management isn’t what you thought it is. In this blog, you will read some words of wisdom from God, who also wants you to use your time wisely plus ideas from the 4S system that maximize success using time/self-management techniques. We can all stop bullshiting about time management and start focusing on self-management. Make peace with the reality about time, by recognizing and accepting that we can’t really control or manage time, no one can add any minutes to the clock or go back in time to retrieve lost time.   Live in a real-time truth and remember that our time is limited and there’s no way to know how much time we have until our last breath. Each day we all have the same 24 hours, no matter where we live or what pandemic is raging. We are free and have a choice to determine how we spend the time we have. We can choose to live our life (unconsciously) as if we are ...

Noteworthy (and blog-worthy) due to two significant events. One major milestone has been on my horizon for 40+ years and the other, about 3 years in the making. These observations reinforce my passion for my Career Coaching practice and my gratitude for those who enhance my life through their hard work.  For a bit more than three years, a new roof has been needed. We patched and patched until my roofer spoke up, “Kathy, you need a new roof.”  I am thr...

Resigning and Resolving in the time of Covid-19

Resigning and Resolving in the time of Covid-19 In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity. Sun Tsu Written by, Kathy Shabotynskyj & Nafije Prishtina This week, one of my clients needed a letter of resignation.  Yes, even during the pandemic, people leave their employers. It is a recommended practice to leave a job properly by submitting a letter of resignation.  My client was afraid to tell the company he was departing. His employer is an air conditioning company and it is the middle of summer. With a short note of thanks and a date of departure spelled out in the letter, my client was prepared to leave on good terms. The blow-up he anticipated never materialized. The letter of resignation helped everyone accept the departure cordially. Helping my client with his resignation got me thinking about the bigger concept of resignation.  Turning to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) I found another definition of resignation: the quality of ...

The Art of Mindfulness Based Public Speaking

The Art of Mindfulness Based Public Speaking “You do public speaking, as if you're talking to one person in a room.” - Ralph Smedley, Founder of Toastmasters International Written by, Nafije Prishtina &  Kathy Shabotynskyj I am grateful to be a fluent speaker of two languages. Having mastered English and becoming a successful leader in a very different culture, makes me especially grateful. When it comes to public speaking I still struggle. One reason is that I get uncomfortable when the right words do not come to me. For example, if I want to say something fast, I feel like people do not understand what I say, and when I speak soft, to ensure the words are clear I bore people to death . For these reasons and more I decided to set a goal to improve my public speaking skills. I found and joined the best club in town, South Beach Toastmasters, where I currently serve as the club President. Becoming a member of the Toastmasters International was one of my best...
