This year will carry an asterisk until the end of time for most of us – due to the pandemic, accompanying economic turmoil, our collective loss for Kobe, RBG and others plus the fear and worry for our families and those working on the healthcare frontlines.  The vaccines created this year are the marvels of 2020. The speed in researching, developing, executing trials, and distributing the vaccine is extraordinary – to match this Covid-19 extraordinary virus. What it reveals is that if enough focus is placed and resources mobilized, anything can happen and can happen quickly. Let’s look at this on a more personal level. One approach to following your dreams is the 10% Target Mindset philosophy created Jennifer Cohen, notable healthy lifestyle writer, entrepreneur, and podcaster. She shares that this mindset encourages people to be BOLD by asking for what the...

Noteworthy (and blog-worthy) due to two significant events. One major milestone has been on my horizon for 40+ years and the other, about 3 years in the making. These observations reinforce my passion for my Career Coaching practice and my gratitude for those who enhance my life through their hard work.  For a bit more than three years, a new roof has been needed. We patched and patched until my roofer spoke up, “Kathy, you need a new roof.”  I am thr...

Believing:Staying connected with God from the inside out

Believing: Staying connected with God from the inside out Written by Life Coach Nafije Prishtina   Edited by Career Coach Kathy Shabotynskyj “When we live in peace from inside we have the power to transmit that positive energy that resides in us outwards; our energy and our positive actions affect our internal /external environment and will contribute to BRING MORE WORLD PEACE!” Nafije Prishtina Some things in life we just can't buy ; the feeling of peace is free and it is within ourselves; all we need to access peace is to take our time and reflect on our beliefs. Ask yourself if you truly believe that you are connected with something greater than you! No matter how strong our faith in God, it can fluctuate.   Some days our faith is stronger and some days it is weaker. And the process of keeping our faith in God “as if you were to see God” is the real adventure in life. Let’s remember that even if you were the Pope or the Buddha, most likely y...

Life Hacks: The magic of daily gratitude for greater success -Part 1

Image
By,  Kathy Shabotynskyj & Nafije Prishtina We wake up each day fresh and ready to go. We call our prayers and intentions out to the universe and plan our days based on our goals. Then, we go through the day accomplishing our goals, crossing off the tasks completed and celebrate our progress. In the process, we make sure to nurture our body with exercise, food and hydration. And then, of course, we step back and take the time to reflect and count our blessings. This way of living is wonderful and when we live life gracefully like this, we are living life to the fullest. However, it seems that the busier we become, the more we turn our thoughts to what more we need and what more we need to do.  Sometimes we just don’t take the time to be grateful for what we have.   Creating the habits of gratitude is very important. I believe incorporating time for self- reflection is the most important aspect of self-management and life success. When we take time to ...

Life Hack: Social Accountability-How a Coach Can Catapult Your Success– Part 4

By,  Kathy Shabotynskyj & Nafije Prishtina The most important aspect of the 4S Time Management tool is the social component. 4S suggests that working with a coach is crucial for high level tasks for both event and time-based Prospective Memory.   A coach uses creative strategies to propel your effective self–management, including incentives and rewards resulting in growth and progress. Braver, (2012) suggested one way to motivate individuals is by providing a reward. The reward induces a level of importance and its effectiveness can be varied by the kind of reward, by the amount of reward or by manipulating the attractiveness (or unattractiveness) of the prospective memory task (i.e., the reward is the benefit of remembering the intention and for making progress on daily tasks.) The reward concept is supported by neuropsychological findings; providing a reward increased activation in prefrontal regions which support the control and active maintenance of task-goals an...
