Is your job fulfilling?

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.”   Steve Jobs

I  am sure that you have heard people say that if you enjoy what you do for  a living, you never work a day in your life. If you feel motivated to go to work and you are performing at your best, there is a pretty good chance that you are in line with your passion,  your needs are fulfilled and as a result you feel motivated.  If you don’t like your job and don’t feel motivated or fulfilled- let’s see what is it that’s holding you back.
Based on one of my favorite motivational theories from Maslow’s hierarchy of needs,  there’s five basic human needs that need to be met in order for us to be motivated in our personal and work life. This below figure shows the different aspects, emphasizing the hierarchy of needs as applied in workplace.https://i1.wp.com/upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/60/Maslow%27s_Hierarchy_of_Needs.svg/450px-Maslow%27s_Hierarchy_of_Needs.svg.png
1st.   To be able to work  we need to have our Physiological needs meet.
2nd.  We  need to have Safety and have good working condition, as well as good pay and benefits.
3rd.  One needs to feel a sense of belonging within the team-coworkers, clients and supervisors.
4th.   When there’s opportunities for training, and we are recognized for our work- our self esteem improves and we become better at our jobs.
5th.  In a good job one will grow personally and professionally and have the freedom to be creative and to solve problems with their skills.
Whether your current job helps you meet your physiological, mental, social and career needs or not, you should always work on your personal and professional life and decide what to do next to  enjoy your job and your life more.  As Mr. Jobs said on the above quote,  If you haven’t found what you love  yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.
Here are some Ideas for Shining Stars to achieve career goals:
  1. Do what you like to do best, and do it to the VERY BEST of your ability
  2. If you are not where you want to be DO NOT BLAME YOUR BOSS or your SPOUSE- start where you are and continue learning what you need to learn and go to the next level
  3. Network with people in your field-continuously attend seminars and trainings
  1. Find  a mentor and  use them as role model: Learn what has helped them to achieve their goals
  2. Hire a career coach:  They will  identify what is holding you back and help you create an action plan to accelerate in your current job and become a shining star in your career
  3. Be your own Boss: Take responsibility for your work and  keep your vision aligned with your goals
  4. Believe  in yourself: Remember you are a shining star and the world needs that RAY of light which only you can offer
