Mindfulness-based Time -Stress Management for Success in Life
“I did my very
best today….this is the feeling we all crave to have at the end of the day. The
feeling of accomplishment brings peace into our hearts!” -Nafije

Are your 2020 goals written down?
Do you have a system in place to plan/organize your days
and weeks?
Do you schedule time regularly to evaluate your progress
and implement changes?
One key
to success and happiness is to understand that time management is all about
life management. Time management skills are crucial in your personal and
professional life. Ultimately, time management is about being responsible to
ourselves regarding how we choose to devote the time we have in each day, week
and year. Overseeing our time and our life means that we use our resources; our
minds and bodies, to help us succeed. Success, in the inside out context,
allows us to care and improve ourselves and this also allows us to serve
others. Yes, your efforts to improve yourself contribute to making the world a
better place for us all.
Time
management will help you do more of what matters to you. Keeping your creative
thinking and wellbeing in harmony will help you achieve your goals. Regular
time management practices will keep you on a straight path aligned with your
goals and aspirations. Try it and see if you can accelerate the realization of
your short-term goals.
As
personal leaders, we must plan, organize and prioritize the fixed-commitments
as well as our flexible commitments. Fixed commitments tend to be the routines
we create and strive to keep flowing. Having a set time for waking up and going
to sleep each day and a 9-5 job are examples of fixed commitments. Your
flexible commitments include the time you spend with family, reading for improvement and devoting time to your goals.
Self-management
is a moment to moment mindful process, but we also need to look at the big
picture each day and see how we are making progress on our priorities. Here’s
some questions to prompt action toward faster realization of your goals and
improve your time management skills.
Time
(self) Management Progress checkup:
- What area of your life could you start doing something new?
- Evaluate what you’re doing well and what other choices you could make to do more of the right actions to support your goals?
- Do you need to do less of something to limit distractions?
- Are there any tasks you can delegate or delete altogether?
Use these
checkup questions to evaluate your progress weekly and monthly. Remember that
you manage you, and your success depends on your ability to manage your time,
the quality of your thoughts and your ability to take small progressive actions.

Kathy’s input:
To
improve your life or your career, using a time management system will yield
success and that success can be realized quicker. One of the first steps to
securing a GOOD Job outlined in my book, How to Find a GOOD Job in 90 Days,
is to set up a schedule. Job hunting is difficult and most every job seeker
will fall for the trap of making home improvements, taking care of other family
members or any actions that fall into the category of distractions. A
successful job seeker will devote a minimum of 30 hours per week to their job
search. Making your job search a fixed commitment is the first part of a
bifurcated approach. The second part is to evaluate your actions and make
adjustments to ensure that your actions align with your intentions.
